How soon can I see a consultant to assess my suitability?
Call your local clinic and arrange an appointment, one of our consultant surgeons will usually be available to see you within a week.

How soon after I see a consultant would I receive my treatment?
This can vary depending if your a currently wear contact lenses or glasses.  The consultant will advise you on how long it will be before it is safe to operate. It is typically within a week.

How good will my vision is after treatment?
In the majority of cases you should have 20/20 vision and no longer require spectacles for everyday activities.  This means you will be able to swim or play sports with confidence and having excellent vision.  You will also be able to apply for jobs requiring good vision or read a book without needed to put on your glasses. (The latter depends on your age at treatment)

Who will be looking after my eyes during treatment?
Our experienced consultant surgeons, who combined have treated over 10,000 eyes in 15 years!  Take a look at their profile.

Who will be looking after my eyes after my treatment?
While in most cases regular after care visits are not required all aftercare is carried out by the consultant surgeon that carried out your procedure.  You will have the extra reassurance of an emergency telephone number of the surgeon for 24/7 emergency assistance should you have any concerns.

Does the procedure hurt?
While all refractive eye laser surgery is relatively quick and almost completely painless when performed there will be some discomfort for 2-3 hours following the surgery. We suggest that you go home and rest with your eyes closed until this passes. Mild painkillers can be taken to help this process.
In the case of epi-lasik or prk surface treatment it generally takes 24-48 hours for the relatively mild discomfort to disappear. You will be advised at the time of treatment what is best suited to your needs.

How long does it take for the discomfort to leave?
In the case of surface treatment all discomfort is usually gone within 24 or at most 48 hours. In the case of Laski (either with keratome or intralase laser) the discomfort is gone within 2-3 hours.

How long after treatment before I can drive?
We advise that you leave driving until the day after your treatment

I understand that the risk is extremely low, but if something were to happen post-treatment how available are the consultant surgeons?
All of the surgeons are locally based and easily accessible.  Unlike many other laser eye treatment centres, we ensure you safety by having our own full time surgeons at hand should you need them.
